Everybody had a BLAST at Laser Quest this July! Mr. Gohman displaced Mr. Stork this year by taking the top "shot" spot. We welcomed a couple of new Tiger scouts to Pack 524 and showed them that we like to have FUN. As always, we are extremely grateful to the wonderful Mrs. Stork for serving as our Pack's Summer Time Activities Coordinater! Isn't she awesome?!

Justin's Bear Rank Ceremony!
We held a very special Bear Rank ceremony for Justin after our last Pack Meeting of the year. Justin, who joined us after Blue & Gold, worked very hard to complete his rank achievements in record time. Justin gave us a terrific example of what it means to live up to the Cub Scout Motto: Do your best! Congrats, Justin. Having earned your Bear Rank, you now progress to the Webelos Scout program!

Last Den Meeting is an Ice Cream Social: Monday, May 17!
Our last Den Meeting of the year is this Monday, May 17 at 6:30pm at the Keller Green Belt. We will have two types of ice cream sandwiches and lots of bottled water on hand for the boys. We will have some balls, bats, and other assorted sports equipment so they can play in the green belt. And we will have an informal "parent" meeting to discuss the ways in which next year is going to be a bit different (Boy Scouts of America has totally revamped their Cub Scouts "curriculum" so that nearly everything is accomplished in the Den Meetings) and I volunteered Jennifer Stork, our Pack's Summer Activities Coordinator, to tell us a little bit about the super-awesome activities she's got planned for us this summer. See you Monday!
Wild Times!
WOW! Dr. Todd Driggers sure knows how to throw a wild party! We visited Dr. Driggers' Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic in Gilbert and learned all about how veterinarians help keep our animals (even unusual animals) healthy. The boys learned some of the differences between mammals, birds, and reptiles. They met the world's smartest African Grey Parrot; they learned the difference between poisonous and venomous creatures; they met a parrot that had swallowed too much jewelry; they watched a Gila Monster eat a mousesicle; and they met a cute little monkey with kidney problems; and they had the option of petting a big ol' lizard. Phew! Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Kempiak for putting together this super-special night and, of course, THANK YOU Dr. Driggers for inviting us into your world of exotic animals!
We Love Sports!
Our first year of Scouting is winding down, but we've worked hard to keep having fun right up until the end. I think the Den Leaders might have had even more fun that the Scouts at our Flag Football Belt Loop night! And be sure to look for Den Leader Harlan's new workout series on DVD, including: Plyo-Scouting; Kenpo-S; Scardio; and Sculpted-Scouts. It'll be sure to be a hit!

After the Den Meeting where the boys earned their Whittling Chips, I said that any Scout who brings me a soap carving on May 3 will earn a prize. If you Scout plans to bring me a carving, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I haven't heard from anybody yet, so I haven't gone by the Scout shop to pick any of the prizes up. BUT, if you let me know by NOON tomorrow, I will swing by the Scout shop on my way home from work and have the prize for them at the Flag Football Belt Loop meeting tomorrow night. Let me know at tkeller@ij.org!!! I would sure love to pick up some prizes tomorrow!
